Sustainability and the Environment at Coety Bach.
We’re pleased to share what makes Coety Bach a thoughtful choice for those looking to enjoy nature responsibly, whilst enjoying the comforts that our retreat has to offer.
Coety Bach blends in with its natural surrounding
Throughout the process of creating Coety Bach, sustainability and environmental impact have been at the forefront of our minds. The cabin itself is designed to blend in with its rural surroundings, being naturally sheltered by existing hedge and tree cover it feels like you're ‘wrapped up in nature’. It’s constructed with sustainably sourced local wood, providing a comfortable and warm atmosphere and is insulated to a exceptional standard.
We rely on renewable energy for our power needs. This means you can enjoy your stay while being mindful of your environmental impact. Outdoor lighting is kept to a minimal, so not to disturb our abundant wildlife.
One of the highlights of Coety Bach is that guests often find they don’t need to use their car at all after arrival. Many choose to bring enough supplies for the entirety of their stay, allowing them to immerse themselves in the natural beauty surrounding the cabin. With walks from the door, there really is no need to drive anywhere, should you chose to leave the car keys in your bag!
The stable door was constructed from pallet wood in our workshop.
Water conservation is also important to us. We utilize our own filtered Welsh well water for use inside the cabin, the hot tub and outdoor bath. Rainwater is harvested for the garden, which is designed to support local wildlife, including bees and other beneficial insects. Our newly established hedge, planted by ourselves in 2020, is growing well and starting to support its own little ecosystem.
Our furnishings inside and outside Coety Bach feature upcycled and reclaimed materials, adding a unique touch while minimizing waste. Most of which have been constructed by ourselves from repurposed material (Infact, most of the wooden fixtures and fittings have been made in our very own workshop.). We also prioritise organic and fair-trade textiles to align with ethical sourcing practices.
To maintain the highest level cleanliness, we use eco-friendly, plant based cleaning products that are safe for both people and pets. We buy supplies such as toilet roll in bulk to reduce packaging waste.
Our ‘Edible garden’ comes to life in the summer months
Up cycled window rescued many years ago when Coety Bach was just a pipe dream.
Our very own herb garden which provides guests with cooking ingredients during the summer is a popular addition. Something that a previous guest suggested and we were happy to oblige. We are currently nurturing the herbs in our greenhouse waiting for the warmer weather to arrive.
At Coety Bach, we are committed to sustainability in a practical way. We look forward to providing you with a welcoming setting that respects the environment. If you have any questions at all regarding sustainability at Coety Bach, please don’t hesitate to ask.
